Ev'ing in more than 2 spots

I have had trouble with this one for a while, i understand what you have to do is count how many ev's but the ev's are too high usually for me, (cause i ev train at low levels) So i had the question is it that i have to level it up to ___ level in order for the counting ev's to work or what? Im not totally sure on this, and i think it could clear it up for others with the same question

uh well this wont be helpful but:

i just level up to like 35 by fighting pokes that give evs ill be using anyways (exp share / lucky egg)

then i just ev stats until they reach certain numbers im aiming for. no math needed

yea but then you have to continually do test ev battles
